Vassiliki Tzomaka is a book artist, graphic designer and illustrator based in the UK. She works from her studio located in the historic town of Colchester.
Although originally from Greece, Vassiliki grew up in the Middle East where she attended the British International School until she moved to the UK to attend university. In 1997 she completed a degree in Chemistry and Management Science, after which she spent ten years working in a number of marketing roles.
In 2008 she returned to university to follow her passion for graphic design completing an MA in Art, Design and the Book at Colchester School of Art. Since then she has worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator specialising in branding for SMEs. Alongside this she continues to research, teach and present papers on children's picturebooks .
In 2017 Vassiliki successfully completed a practice based PhD exploring the role of narrative in nonfiction picturebooks, supervised by Martin Salisbury, at Cambridge School of Art.
She is currently an Associate Lecturer for Graphic Design at Cambridge School of Art.
